 | #1 - filapopercherry 951 days agoLive playstations network should Live be free. If it were I don't think there would be as much support and when its down it would be down for awhile. I would say that if Live were free I would dl more games and extras spending probably more then Live's fee. So I guess I'm glad I pay for it, it makes me feel like I've given M$ enough of my money. And doens't everone feel good when they give what they don't have to a company that has more then they will ever need.Reply To This Comment | Message | Agree(1) | Disagree(0)filapopercherry owns this system. |

 | #2 - tle105 951 days agoI have no problem paying for the service. It's a pretty amazing...the people that try to compare the PS3 network with it out highly confused, there is no comparison. I figure paying for xbox live is really no different then paying for a MMORPG.Reply To This Comment | Message | Agree(1) | Disagree(0)tle105 owns this system. |

 | #3 - axeshredder 951 days agoI agree with yinz. The service costs money because it is, in fact, a service. PS3's network is still new and not as robust at LIVE and I would venture to guess will never be up to speed with LIVE. I dont mind paying for it because with a service you get support and we all know you get what you pay for.Reply To This Comment | Message | Agree(0) | Disagree(1)axeshredder owns this system. |

 | #4 - cochran13 951 days agoI use live more than most people that I know and I only use it for downloading game demos...and occasionally some songs for rock band. Silver members have the same ability to download these item but they must wait a week or two before they are available. I'd like to see the numbers on how many people own a 360 and don't have a gold subscription...that would be interesting. I doubt Live will ever be free b/c they know people are always going to want to play the multiplayer staples like halo or COD4. That $50 per player also helps defray the cost of replacing all those consoles that have bricked. Once the infrastructure was built, maintaining and adding content can't be all that time consuming that they need to charge each year. I think maybe a one-time fee to join would be better than annual payments, and if they went to that system I think a lot of the people that only have silver would consider joining. They better be ready for the xmas surge next year. I can't imagine waiting and waiting and finally getting my 360 and COD4...only to log on and be told....NO GAMES FOR YOU! Sad xmas morning indeed...Reply To This Comment | Message | Agree(2) | Disagree(0)cochran13 owns this system. |

 | #5 - axeshredder 951 days agoId say if people dont want to pay for LIVE then just game on a PC and set up and maintain your own game servers. Not that easy.Reply To This Comment | Message | Agree(1) | Disagree(0)axeshredder owns this system. |

 | #6 - lycanish 950 days agomy biggest problem with paying for xbox live is that it's a peer2peer network. if i were paying to connect to servers in order to get really fast ping times for multiplayer gaming, i'd have no problem with it. instead, i'm paying for the ability to connect to some dude's xbox that is subjective to lag spikes, disconnection, host quitting, whatever. p2p is free on the internet, and microsoft shouldn't be charging for that.
the service itself is pretty cool and it's hard to argue with some of the marketplace features but the ps3 network is free and it's running on a ton of sony hosted servers.Reply To This Comment | Message | Agree(0) | Disagree(1)lycanish owns this system. |

 | #7 - axeshredder 949 days agoI have to correct Lycanish there: "In its current configuration, most Xbox Live content is routed through Microsoft's Xbox Live servers. For the Xbox Live launch in 2002, Microsoft installed massive arrays of servers in four locations in the United States, Japan and the United Kingdom. The network costs alone were estimated at $500 million [ref]. The servers are physically secure, with multiple levels of security. The entire system is controlled from Xbox Live headquarters in Redmond, Washington. Microsoft is so security conscious that they don't give out specific information about types or exact numbers of servers used."Reply To This Comment | Message | Agree(1) | Disagree(0)axeshredder owns this system. |

 | #8 - Grendel_Prime 949 days agoIf that is true, then why do problems happen when the host disconnects or has a shitty connection?Reply To This Comment | Message | Agree(1) | Disagree(0)Grendel_Prime owns this system. |

|
 | #10 - axeshredder 935 days agoThat depends on the game. some games do use peer to peer and dont have logic to reassign the host (cod4). my point was just that MS spent a ton of money on something to make xbl possible so i dont mind paying...kinda like finding out just to purchase an invisible frequency spectrum for cellular costs billions of dollars to our wonderful FCC...i dont mind paying for a cellphone either even though calls get dropped and txt msgs sometimes just dont show up. xbl, internet, celllphone...they are the utilities of the new...Reply To This Comment | Message | Agree(1) | Disagree(0)axeshredder owns this system. |

 | #12 - Lt Hodgepodge 767 days agoI personally have no complaints on how it is right now. And with the update shown at E3, It makes me care even less about paying. Plus, it's not like paying for WoW or something where you only play one game. There are tons to choose from and its only about 5 dollars a month if your paying annually. Im a big complainer when it comes to playing games online, but paying paying for it isn't really something that bothers me.Reply To This Comment | Message | Agree(0) | Disagree(0)Lt Hodgepodge owns this system. |

 | #13 - xXxXKarelessFoolXxXx 705 days agoi think they should, the money is worth it but its a hassle, having 2 pay for live and wanting microsoft points 2.There have also been many live accounts taken by offering free ms points(which is bull). But, if not free, at least make it cheaper!Reply To This Comment | Message | Agree(1) | Disagree(0)xXxXKarelessFoolXxXx owns this system. |

 | #14 - beatle1 318 days agoi think live i a good idea but the paying for it is a bit bad really considering you have to pay for the console and then the games aren't exactly cheap so maybe a rprice reduction on games would be welcome or maybe do the games on demand on live for free or cheaper than what they areReply To This Comment | Message | Agree(0) | Disagree(0)beatle1 owns this system. |
