Final Fantasy 13 - Game Completed Review - No SpoilersWritten by Kamasenin 159d ago
Review Summary:''Final Fantasy 13 is a very well made game from a production values point of view. If you're never played a Final Fantasy game, I think you would like this game. If you're a veteran Final Fantasy player that tends to favor the more old school games like Final Fantasy 4,6,7,9 and 10, you will be entertained until it’s over. However, you will feel disappointed overall. This isn't a bad game at all. It just lacks the emotional content, developed plot and subplots, fleshed out characters you can care about or hate, and all the extra things to find and do that I've come to expect from previous entries into the series.

I do admit that I did enjoy this game over these past few days. Unfortunately, in the time it's taken me to write this review, its already a distant memory. Like a mindless fun action movie, I suspended my disbelief long enough to appreciate this game for what it is. This game isn't anything I'd play a second time. Take that for what it’s worth.''

Not so LegendaryWritten by vicious 605d ago
Review Summary:''Thanks to the storyline of the game, Legendary could've been an interesting adventure with monsters, elements and the apocalypse as a backdrop. Sadly, the gameplay comes across as messy and incomplete - the assortment of hazards and threats from monsters is woeful at best and boring at worst. Plot points and development of the storyline are practically nonexistent, and the standard shooter mechanics just fall flat. If you need a shooter, look elsewhere, because Legendary isn't close to what its name it claims to be.''

Prince of InvincibleWritten by vicious 608d ago
Review Summary:''It’s not the best game ever released on PC, PS3, or any other consoles. It’s not even the best game released this year. And yet Prince of Persia is that rare game that has managed to tap into that part of me that makes you remember the game, and treasure it for life. It has its shortcomings, like any game on the market today, but I already sense that Prince of Persia will be one of the few games from this generation that I carry with me throughout this decade.''

Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One – PAX 2010 impressions (Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One)17h ago | Preview | PlayStation 3 |

Historically, taking big detours from formula hasn’t worked out so well for Ratchet & Clank. True, it’s only really taken one – Ratchet: Deadlocked – but that left enough of a bad taste in the mouths of fans that the series has since stuck to continually adding new bells and whistles, instead of reinventing itself entirely. That changes with Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One, which takes traditional Ratchet gameplay and turns it into a top-down, minigame-infused adventure for four players.

If reading that makes you suspect that All 4 One is a simplified, possibly terrible party-game spinoff instead of a legitimate entry in the series, you’re not alone. That was our initial, knee-jerk reaction, too. But after checking it out behind closed doors at PAX, we’re happy to report that All 4 One actually looks promising. Impressive, even... ...

Borderlands Getting Free Level Cap Increase21h ago | News | PlayStation 3 |

When details of the latest Borderlands DLC, Claptrap's New Robot Revolution, were announced, there was no mention of a level cap increase. Fortunately, one is coming -- and even better, it will be coming free of charge to all owners of Borderlands on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

When he wasn't busy discussing the return of Duke Nukem, Gearbox co-founder and CEO Randy Pitchford spent some time at PAX revealing that, around the release of the Borderlands Game of the Year edition (scheduled for October 12), Gearbox will update the game to increase the level cap by eight, bringing it to 69. They decided on an increase of 8 because they didn't want it to be too low, or as high as the 11-level increase that the General Knoxx brought.

Joystiq reports that Pitchford explained that Gearbox opted to make the increase a free update instead of including it in the Claptrap DLC because then "you'd have to buy every previous DLC." Also included in the free update will be a rebalancing of the original game to cater to the new level cap. Given that these are the sort of things you might expect to see in a premium DLC release, it's nice to see Gearbox instead release them to fans for free.

The Last Guardian may be at TGS after all, Tokyo crowds prepare to flee for their lives (The Last Guardian)22h ago | News | PlayStation 3 |

Here's a brief glance at a wish list we've cooked up in the last 15 minutes. 1) We really hope jet pack research is well under way, because we're sick to the back teeth of walking to work. 2) We want our own personal army of albino gorillas... possibly sporting jet packs. 3) We want The Last Guardian to make some sort of appearance at this month's Tokyo Game Show like you wouldn't believe. Sadly, it looks like we're shit out of luck on the gorilla front, so it's a good thing TLG head honcho Fumito Ueda has hinted his game may be at the show in some form. ...
