I'm about 40 games into my first dynasty season so far and the Pirates are fighting hard at 2.5 games back from the division leading cubs and 5 games back from the Braves for the wild card. This game is highly addictive and easily a must own if you have a PS3 and enjoy sports games.

The Good

thumbsup
  • Great graphics and presentation. The announcers sound like you're watching a live game.
  • Outstanding pitching and hitting mechanics. At anytime during an at-bat, you can check out more in-depth pitching information, such as what kind of pitches a pitcher has, the number of times they've thrown that ball, their strike percentages with that throw and the opponent's avg.
  • Dynasty mode is an amazing, deep offering. Control all aspects of your favorite team, from personnel to park features.
  • In game saves. This feature is amazing. If you can only play a few innings, you have the ability to save the game and pickup right where you left off at a later time.

The Bad

thumbsdown
  • While it's hardly a "bad", the games do take a while to finish, so if you're hoping to fly through dynasty mode, Good Luck.
  • No PS3-PSP cross compatibility. This would be an amazing feature to implement. I would definitely buy both games if they would offer the ability to play the same dynasty on the PSP and PS3.
  • While it is a rare occurrence, there were times where I had difficulty with my baserunning whenever there were multiple men on base.

Overall

This game is tons of fun. Even though I'm playing GTA IV, I find myself wanting to play MLB '08. Yes, that's right, it's so much fun that I think about it while playing a 10/10 game like GTA IV. If you're a fan of sports games, this is a must own, even if you're hesitant about a Baseball game.
