| PAL Resistance 2 Boxart Unveiled18m ago | News | Industry News |
The first game since Metal Gear Solid 4 that'll get me to turn on my PS3 for something besides watching a Blu-ray movie, Insomniac's Resistance 2, finally has boxart, as you can see to the right. Sure, it's for the PAL edition of the game, but seeing that Chimera make that face at you just makes you want to take its head off with a well-place Fareye shot, no?
NTSC gamers -- that would be all of us in North America -- should keep in mind that this isn't necessarily the same boxart we'll be seeing when we pick up our copies of the game in November. Same goes for the PAL PEGI rating of 18+, which is the rough equivalent of the ESRB's Mature designation, though I would think it's a pretty safe bet Resistance 2 will have bucket loads violence and gore deserving of the 'M' branding.Full Story...

| Castle Crashers broken; Crashing XBL (Castle Crashers - Xbox Live Arcade)48m ago | News | Xbox 360 |
 Destructoid writes:
"I'd love to be able to report that things are going swimmingly for Castle Crashers, but unfortunately I've had issues with the thing all day. So far I've managed one round of online co-op, and even then, it wasn't long before my character froze and I had to pull out. Since then, games won't connect, and even worse, my Xbox 360 has been (ironically) crashing when attempting to load an Xbox Live game."
"UPDATE:The Behemoth is aware of the issue and claim to be fixing it, in their own cute way"

| Mario Super Sluggers Review1h and 18m ago | News | Nintendo DS | Wii |
A portion of a GamePro review:
When Wii Sports was first released, many gamers fell in love with the baseball minigame. It was simple, fun and really showed off the Wii Remote’s capabilities. Most of us assumed that a Mario-themed iteration was going to come eventually and it’s finally here in Mario Super Sluggers. Unfortunately, this [...]Full Story...

| Skate It Hands-On1h and 18m ago | News | Nintendo DS | Wii |
A portion from a 1UP article:
The Balance Board-compatible Skate It begins where the original game left off, with an earthquake having leveled the character’s hometown of San Vanelona — which means players will see some familiar levels from the original Skate, albeit heavily modified by the temblor.

| Rant: Save Points in Portable Games1h and 18m ago | News | Industry News |
So, I was doing some light reading last night, and came across a blog entry by one frustrated gamer by the name of Bob Mackey, who had apparently gotten sick of Final Fantasy IV. "F--k the Moon," he says, leading me to believe that our beloved natural satellite was going to suffer as a result of his frustrations.
Reading over his post, one part stuck out to me, resonated if you will:I did have every intention of beating Final Fantasy IV, but the last dungeon of the game is such a slog that every time you take a step forward, it feels like two steps back. "Two steps back" in this case are the irritating random encounters, which require as much planning and strategy as a boss fight, but with about 10% of the payoff. I'll give credit to Final Fantasy IV's dungeon for having a save point--while it was there in the original, the DS version of III didn't even add one for the sake of convenience--but I never managed to reach that life-saving spot, even with my all of my characters at my ludicrously high levels. -- 61 Frames per SecondAh, save points. At one time, they were effectively a luxury. Now, it's pretty much mandatory for a game to have them. And yet, so often they are poorly implemented, but never more than in portable games.Full Story...

| Microsoft Gets $20 Million as Part of Immersion-Sony Case1h and 18m ago | News | Industry News |
Microsoft's about $20 million richer -- not like the company is starving for cash, mind you -- since reaching an agreement with rumble-patent holder Immersion. This comes after that company's successful court battle with Sony required the PS3 maker to fork over $90 million, which allegedly triggered a clause requiring Immersion to give some of that cash back to Microsoft. Confused yet?
The net result for Microsoft is that it managed to obtain the rights to use rumble technology in its controllers for just over USD 5 million, while Sony is continuing to pay a massively higher amount. -- GamesIndustry.biz
That's quite a roundabout way of getting the rights to license Immersion's rumble technology, but I give credit to Microsoft's legal team for acquiring the rights for the (relatively) low price AND finding a way to screw over Sony.
